- Langa, meaning “Sun” in their mother language “Xhosa,” is the oldest Township in Cape Town. Langa was originally designed in a way to allow the authorities maximum visibility and control of residents during the Apartheid Era. Take the time to explore the Townships Arts and Cultural Centre, namely, Gugu S’Thebe, housed in a brightly coloured building, to explore various forms of arts and crafts, metal and pottery workshops and retail facilities.
